Black Business Relief Fund
An initiative to support Black businesses affected by riots and looting.
$10,000+ raised.
10 Black Businesses supported.
With the help of our community, we were able to support ten Black owned businesses across the country, affected by rioting and looting, with an unrestricted grant of $1,000 to help them rebuild.
Understanding that $1,000 is a small donation when compared to the damages several of the businesses incurred, we thought it was just as important to capture their stories.
Our Co-Chairs, and many of our members, traveled to Atlanta, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles in order to connect with and capture the stories of each of the 10 business owners we supported through our relief fund.
Featured Business: Gilly Brew Bar
A building once built by slaves; now home to a Black owned business.
The Gilly Brew Bar is a Black owned business located in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Stone Mountain is notoriously known as a gathering site for the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist activities.
Through our Black Business Fund, we were also able to support Gilly Brew Bar by donating a $1,000 unrestricted grant this past summer.
This is their story.
